Printed on fine recycled glossy paper, each page of this brochure was custom designed by our team with most photography produced in-house. This represents a milestone for Carnegie Mellon's Computer Science department as their first printed undergraduate admissions brochure in the department's history.
Since it's printing, CMU's undergraduate admissions for CS majors has increased by approximately 2.5 fold [Frank Pfenning, Head of CMU's Computer Science Department]. It has proved to be a great asset in helping admissions counselors to consolidate information into a single place, replacing the multitude of loose pamphlets and print-outs that had become the norm.

Ryan from the Lux Aeterna team joined a primitive-style expedition with Sea Wolf Kayak and four expert kayakers in the Kyuquot Sound of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Lead by SWK founder Kiliii Yu, we camped on beaches and harvested incredible fish while paddling from island to island in the open ocean, and returning safely to Fair Harbor in 6 days to create this diverse range of photography and video documenting our journey. This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that we recommend to everyone—whether you want to build your own boat or travel with experienced sea kayakers in strong yet quiet and unobtrusive vessels. We saw grey whales twice in our first day, bald eagles, oyster catchers, 1000+ year old immortal jellyfish, and a great blue heron, just to name a few.
Ryan was brought on as a documentarian, recording video and audio, in addition to photography. The challenge was immense, given my inexperience as a sea kayaker, while also being on duty with cameras and microphones paddling through deep salt water.

Project: The Mongolian Project. Our role was to develop a website that showcase sdocumentaries and interviews made during a five-week visit to Mongolia in June and July of 2004 by a group of 10 professors and scholars.
"The University of Pittsburgh’s Asian Studies Center (ASC) of the University Center for International Studies and the University Honors College (UHC) received a grant from the Fulbright-Hayes Committee of the US Department of Education in 2003. The award, granted under the Fulbright-Hayes Group Projects Abroad program, created an opportunity to develop a five-week research-based project for post-secondary academics from around the United States to travel to and study in Mongolia. The purpose of the trip was to introduce the scholars to Mongolian culture and society and to help the scholars develop new research areas. Through the UHC’s extensive connections in Mongolia, participants were able to conduct preliminary research in a wide range of disciplines and had the opportunity to meet with academic Mongolian colleagues in Ulaanbaatar. The trip was conducted in June and July of 2004 and included 10 participants from institutions around the United States."
